GLSMC BYLAWS – Updated 2021

Our Principal

Michaela Greco, Principal

Michaela Greco, a native of Germany, has been teaching children and teenagers for over 30 years. She is a New Jersey certified teacher and has the U.S. equivalent of a Masters in Business Administration (MBA), specializing in Human Resources and Marketing from the University of Applied Sciences, Frankfurt, Germany. She is the mother of two grown sons, who attended the German School for several years.

Our Vice Principal

Jutta Estevez, Vice Principal

Jutta Estevez, a native of Germany, came to the USA with her family in 2006, and has been a teacher for 30 years. For more than 10 years she has taught at the German School of Morris County, most recently preparing students for the German Language Exam (DSD I and II).  Starting this school year, she will take on the role of Vice Principal to support the continued growth and success of the School community.

Two of her four daughters reside at home with her and her dogs.  An active volunteer member with ‘The Seeing Eye’ in Morristown, she has raised several Labradors and Golden Retrievers. She is now waiting for her first German Shepherd.  When not taking long hikes with her Irish Wolfhound, she tends bees in her backyard, and enjoys a cup of tea accompanied by a Nele Neuhaus Thriller.

HISTORY:  Past, Present and Future at 50+!

Since 1968, the GLSMC has been a vital part of the German-American community, providing an education for anyone interested in learning the German language and culture.

In 1968, the school began with just 18 students. The School’s Chairman Ernst C. Scheja petitioned and was granted classroom space at Morristown High School from the Morristown Board of Education.  In September 1969, 110 students began taking classes and the school became a tax-exempt 501(c ) (3) non-profit organization in 1970.  Over the years the program has grown with more than 200 students enrolled for the 2021 school year.  The school celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2018 at Germania Park in Dover, NJ.
